Job summary

Alfred Benesch & Company offers a Civil Engineering Construction Internship based in Milwaukee, WI or Neenah, WI with field-based tasks at project sites. You will gain hands-on experience inspecting and documenting infrastructure projects under supervision.

Candidates should be pursuing a BS in Civil or Construction Engineering, with exposure to ArcGIS, AutoCAD, and related tools. Travel to sites is required, and a driving record check is necessary.

Qualifications

• Pursuing BS in Civil or Construction Engineering or related engineering curriculum.
• Experience working on field projects desired.
• Exposure to ArcGIS, MicroStation, Geopak, and/or AutoCAD is desirable.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organization and ability to perform within budgets and schedules.
• Ability to work effectively independently and in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Review and confirm with the project supervisor the adequacy of the budget and schedule.
• Perform construction observation of construction activities and follow project procedures.
• Maintain a field book in accordance with project procedures.
• Perform measurements of construction work and quantity calculations of pay items.
• Prepare the Inspector's Daily Reports and other project documentation as required.
• Report to the project supervisor on progress and deficiencies.
• Review plans, specifications, and submittals relating to assigned work.
• Provide design or other professional assistance to project managers.
• Maintain company-owned vehicles or equipment assigned for the project.
