Job summary

Benesch, a multi-disciplinary planning, engineering, and professional services firm, invites applications for a Civil Engineering Construction Internship. You will work on civil and roadway projects, performing field inspections, documentation, and measurements under supervision.

Based out of Naperville, IL or Chicago, IL, the role is field-based with travel to project sites. You will gain hands-on experience with design-to-construction workflows and develop skills in ArcGIS, MicroStation,

Qualifications

• Pursuing your BS in Civil or Construction Engineering or a related engineering curriculum is required.
• Field project experience is desired.
• Exposure to ArcGIS, MicroStation, Geopak, and AutoCAD is desirable.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to perform within budgets and schedules.
• Ability to work effectively independently and in a team.
• Good driving record and valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Review and assure budget and schedule adequacy.
• Conduct construction observation per project procedures.
• Maintain a field book per procedures.
• Take measurements and calculate pay item quantities.
• Prepare daily inspector reports and docs.
• Report progress and issues to the project supervisor.
• Review plans and submittals for assigned work.
• Provide design support to project managers.
• Maintain company vehicles and equipment.
