Job summary

DOWL is seeking a Construction Engineering and Inspection Intern for Summer 2027 to support our on-site Civil Infrastructure team in Montana. You will gain hands-on experience assisting licensed engineers with field oversight, documentation, and project coordination.

Responsibilities include site visits, basic engineering calculations, and contributing to quality control for transportation and heavy civil projects while learning how plans become built reality.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in civil, environmental, or construction engineering technology.
• 1–2 years of college coursework; construction or civil engineering experience desirable.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Proficient with MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Strong math skills (geometry and trigonometry).

Responsibilities

• Establish and document existing conditions at project sites through research and site visits.
• Perform engineering calculations in support of civil construction projects.
• Conduct site visits to monitor quality and progress of work.
• Assist in construction inspection of transportation and heavy civil projects.
• Support in-service inspection of structures including bridges and walls.
