Job summary

DOWL is seeking a Construction Engineering and Inspection Intern for Summer 2027 to support our construction engineering team. This role provides hands-on engineering assistance to manage, administer, and inspect civil infrastructure projects on site.

As part of the internship, you will work with engineers and inspectors, perform site visits, and contribute to documenting conditions and progress while developing practical skills in construction administration and inspection.

Qualifications

• Minimum one to two years of college-level coursework toward a civil, environmental, or construction engineering degree.
• Prior work experience in construction or civil engineering is desirable.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Establish and document existing conditions at project sites through research and site visits.
• Perform engineering calculations in support of civil engineering construction projects.
• Conduct site visits to construction projects to monitor quality and progress of the work.
• Perform construction inspection of transportation and heavy civil projects.
• Assist in the in-service inspection of structures including bridges, walls, culverts, and tanks.
• Other engineering related duties as assigned.
