Job summary

Wesleyan University is seeking an Allbritton Civic Engagement Intern to support the Allbritton Center for the Study of Public Life with program, communications, and outreach efforts. You will work closely with staff to engage students and support faculty in civic engagement initiatives, reporting to the Civic Engagement Fellow.

The role includes preparing content for the Engage Blog/Newsletter and social media, helping organize student organizations, and promoting civic engagement at public

Qualifications

• Interest in civic/community engagement.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience creating content for social media or newsletters.
• Ability to build relationships across diverse student groups.

Responsibilities

• Provide event support for Allbritton’s civic engagement efforts.
• Attend two Engagement Council meetings per semester, record minutes, and provide an on-the-ground perspective.
• Support student outreach and broader communication efforts, including content for the Engage Blog/Newsletter and social media.
• Refer students and student organizations to community or campus partners.
• Help organize meetings and foster development of Allbritton-affiliated student organizations.
• Promote the university’s civic engagement interests at public meetings and events.
• Help design communications directed to students and develop content for various Wesleyan channels.
