Job summary

New York City Department of Education is seeking an Election Outreach Coordinator (Temp Consultant) to engage families and build networks across NYC for the 2027 CCEC Elections. The role emphasizes direct outreach, advocacy, and efforts to reduce participation disparities in education council elections.

The position reports to the CCEC Election Campaign Manager and involves coordinating canvassing, phone banking, and data collection for engagement metrics.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or equivalent and one (1) year of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above.
• Preferred familiarity with the New York City public school system.
• Experience with data entry and management.
• Strong interpersonal, communication and audience engagement skills (verbal and written).
• Strong Microsoft Office skills in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Community Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with district staff and leadership, school staff and families.
• Grassroots Mobilization: Participate in school and other events where large numbers of families are in attendance to inform and inspire active participation.
• Outreach and Communication: Coordinate, execute and track strategies for outreach, including canvassing, phone banking, and digital campaigns.
• Data Management: Track community engagement efforts, monitor progress, and report on outcomes.
• Public Relations: Represent the campaign in community settings.
