Job summary

Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board is seeking an Athletic Program Specialist to plan and implement city-wide athletic programs across facilities and service areas for residents of all ages and abilities. The role requires evenings, weekends, and holiday availability to visit game sites and support leagues.

The position emphasizes collaboration with coaches, officials, sponsors, and community partners to meet objectives and advance the MPRB mission.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Park and Recreation Administration, Recreation Administration, Sports Management, or closely related field.
• At least 1 year of experience in varied athletic programs; coach or official.
• Equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Plan, schedule and organize year-round youth and adult recreation activities for city-wide programs.
• Assess athletics and related services to meet community needs and demographics.
• Continuously recruit coaches and officials for athletic programs.
• Work with potential sponsors to secure donations.
• Support department policies and evaluate programs to meet objectives.
• Communicate plans, policies and procedures to officials and the public.
• Work alternating schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays; observe league tournaments.
• Assist in addressing park and recreation needs of underserved communities.
