Job summary

City of Birmingham is seeking a qualified Webmaster to build and maintain the city’s online websites. The role involves creating digital media, identifying IT needs, serving as site administrator, providing user support, and conducting IT training sessions for staff.

Qualifications

• Experience writing/editing code and scripts using HTML, T-SQL, VB, C++, Java, Python or XML.
• Experience building websites for medium to large enterprises.
• Experience providing systems administration support for websites, including permissions and data integrity.
• Experience managing projects through full life cycle, from requirements to delivery.

Responsibilities

• Designs, builds, and maintains websites, applications, or programs using scripting languages and content tools.
• Chooses appropriate languages and tools for assigned tasks.
• Acts as site administrator, providing user support and managing access rights.
• Documents system usage and updates reference materials for users.
• Analyzes user needs to define technical requirements and scope.
• Conducts training to ensure process compliance and knowledge sharing.
• Responds to user inquiries and troubleshoots software/hardware issues.
