Job summary

The City of Birmingham is seeking a well-qualified Webmaster responsible for building and maintaining the city's online websites. Webmasters use content creation tools to build digital media, identify IT needs, serve as site administrator for departmental systems, provide user support, and conduct training seminars to teach employees how to effectively use IT systems.

Qualifications

• Experience creating, scripting, and/or modifying programs and applications using various languages (HTML, T-SQL, VB, C++, Java, Python, XML).
• Experience building websites in medium to large enterprises.
• Experience providing systems administration support for websites and managing user access rights.

Responsibilities

• Designs, builds, and maintains websites, applications, or programs using scripting languages and tools.
• Selects relevant languages and tools as required by tasks.
• Serves as site administrator for systems by providing user support and updates.
• Creates or updates system documentation and user guides for applications.
• Analyzes user needs to determine technical requirements for development.
• Conducts training to ensure knowledge of processes and standards.
• Answers inquiries to troubleshoot and resolve software/hardware issues.
