Job summary

The Personnel Board of Jefferson County is seeking a qualified Webmaster to build and maintain the City of Birmingham’s online presence. The role involves creating digital media, identifying IT needs, serving as site administrator, user support, and delivering training on IT systems.

Compensation includes medical/dental, pension, generous holidays, sick and vacation leave. The posted pay range is $66,684 – $103,438 for a full-time position with a Target Close Date of 2026-10-30.

Qualifications

• Experience creating, scripting, and/or modifying computer programs and applications using various programming languages (e.g., HTML, T-SQL, VB, C++, Java, Python, XML).
• Experience creating websites in a medium to large enterprise setting.
• Experience providing systems administration support for websites (permissions, troubleshooting, data integrity).
• Experience with project management in full life cycle development.

Responsibilities

• Designs, builds, and maintains websites, applications, or programs using scripting languages and content tools.
• Selects programming languages, design tools, and applications as required by tasks.
• Serves as site administrator for systems or applications by providing user support and managing user access rights.
• Creates or updates system documentation and user guides for applications.
• Analyzes user needs to define technical requirements for website/application development.
• Conducts training to ensure compliance with procedures and standards.
• Answers inquiries regarding software or hardware operation to provide guidance and resolve problems.
