Job summary

The City of San Luis seeks a capable City Prosecutor to supervise the prosecution of criminal and civil matters before the City Court. You will review police reports, prepare cases for trial, interview witnesses, and negotiate dispositions.

Responsibilities include providing legal guidance to police, conducting research, and mentoring staff and contract prosecutors while upholding ethical standards and city policies.

Qualifications

• JD required and must be admitted to practice law in Arizona.
• Residency within 25 miles of City of San Luis; bilingual in Spanish preferred.
• Experience in prosecuting criminal and civil municipal matters is expected.
• Strong ethics and professional conduct in line with city policies.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate prosecution of criminal and civil matters before City Court.
• Prepare and present cases, interview witnesses, and negotiate dispositions.
• advise police on legal issues and strategies for investigations and filings.
• Conduct legal research, draft pleadings, and manage case work flows.
• Provide supervision, training, and guidance to legal staff and contract prosecutors.
• Attend meetings with department officials to discuss legal questions and procedures.
