DOT is seeking a dynamic City Planner to implement the future of outdoor dining in New York City as a member of the Open Restaurants team.
NYC launched the groundbreaking Open Restaurant Program during the COVID-19 emergency to expand outdoor dining options and help restaurants rebound economically. The City aims to turn this emergency program into a permanent, safe, accessible, and attractive initiative.
Under the supervision of the Executive Director of Open Restaurants, the City Planner will assist with planning and implementing the permanent program. Responsibilities include developing design standards, creating an application portal, facilitating outreach and engagement, reviewing applications, coordinating with various city agencies, conducting public outreach, preparing agreements, and assisting with policy reports and analyses.
Assignment Level III: One additional year of professional experience beyond the minimum.
Assignment Level IV: Two additional years of professional experience beyond the minimum.
