Job summary

The New York City Department of Transportation seeks an Assistant City Highway Repairer to support curb and sidewalk repair operations and general labor tasks across the city. You will assist crews with concrete, asphalt, and paving activities, and help maintain safe pedestrian and vehicular infrastructure.

Applicants must hold a New York driver license, with a Class B CDL required within 90 days of appointment. Residency requirements apply; CDL B or A preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform general laboring tasks while repairing curbs, sidewalks, and manhole edges.
• Carry cement bags, shovel sand and stone, and mix materials for paving.
• Clean construction site by sweeping and debris removal.
• Assist in laying concrete, asphalt and other pavements.
• Assist in foundation laying and installation of shoring and sheeting.
• Operate portable or towed power equipment as needed.
• Direct traffic safely around construction zones, when required.
