Job summary

New York City Department of Transportation seeks an Area Supervisor (Highway Maintenance) to direct maintenance and repair of arterial roadways and related infrastructure. You will plan and supervise daily operations, oversee snow removal and emergency response, and coordinate with city agencies and contractors to ensure public safety and operational continuity.

The role requires four years of roadway/bridge maintenance experience with supervisory duties and a valid NY Class B CDL with air

Qualifications

Four years of full-time experience as a working member of a roadway or bridge/tunnel maintenance and repair crew, with at least two years in a supervisory capacity.
Possession of a Class B Commercial Driver License valid in New York State with no restrictions on air brakes, to be maintained for the duration of employment.

Responsibilities

Directs maintenance, repair, and operational readiness of arterial roadways and associated infrastructure.
Plans, coordinates, and supervises daily highway maintenance operations and repairs.
Oversees driveway/manual landscaping, debris removal, snow/ice operations, and median/landscaped areas.
Maintains records, reviews time sheets, and ensures compliance with policies and safety procedures.
Coordinates with city agencies, contractors, and stakeholders to support operations.
