Job summary

City of Pilot Point is seeking a City Engineer and Director of Engineering to lead the department that provides professional engineering services and oversees infrastructure planning, capital projects, development reviews, and construction administration. The role partners with Public Works, Planning, Finance, and other departments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college or university.
• Eight years of progressively responsible civil engineering experience involving municipal infrastructure, capital projects, development review, or related work.
• Three years of progressively responsible supervisory or management experience.
• Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of Texas; maintain licensure.
• Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) certification or ability to obtain within one year.
• Valid Texas driver's license with acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Direct the Engineering Department and assigned engineering, technical, and construction inspection staff; establish priorities, review workloads, and manage contracted engineering services.
• Serve as the City's principal civil engineering advisor to the City Manager and elected bodies; provide technical recommendations on infrastructure and development matters.
• Maintain and update Design and Construction Standards, standard details, specs, and procedures; ensure consistent application.
• Track development reviews, capital project schedules, budgets, inspection findings, and closeout status; report performance and issues.
