Job summary

St. Joe County Public Library in South Bend, IN is seeking a City Branch Assistant Manager to connect patrons with reading and digital resources, supervise staff, and lead community outreach. You will handle customer service, assist with forms and projects, and help patrons navigate library technology.

Responsibilities include cash handling, merchandising, scheduling, and staff training while maintaining excellent service standards in a diverse community setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
• Experience: public library or public service is preferred.
• State of Indiana Librarian Certification Level 5 within three years of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on customer service and assist patrons with library accounts.
• Help patrons with government forms, school projects, and job applications.
• Connect patrons digitally by helping them use devices and technology.
• Perform daily departmental procedures including cash register operations.
• Plan activities and outreach programs for all ages and participate in community initiatives.
• Supervise branch staff (Level 5 and below) and manage the schedule when needed.
• Maintain displays and shelving; contribute to branch appearance.
