Job summary

Brown University’s University Library seeks a Senior Library Specialist for Access Services – Circulation. The role supports user service, course reserves, and the operation of the circulation desk, both onsite and online, with evening and weekend hours.

Responsibilities include assisting patrons, guiding use of resources, managing holds and access, and training student assistants while following library policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• Ability to interact favorably with library users and co-workers.
• Oral and written communication skills.
• Problem solving skills.
• Ability to perform detailed work accurately with reasonable speed.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service and assistance to users of library services.
• Assist users in locating, borrowing, and copying library materials.
• Assist with course reserves and resource sharing operations.
• Maintain and edit patron, course reserve, and bibliographic records.
• Assist with equipment and public service responsibilities and basic troubleshooting.
