Job summary

William & Mary Libraries seeks a Circulation Specialist to lead student employees and manage daily access services at Swem Library. You will supervise, train, and coach staff while ensuring smooth operation of the circulation desk, delivery, reserves, and stacks management.

The role requires strong customer service, effective communication, and the ability to adapt to rotating shifts, with occasional evenings and weekends. A dedication to teaching, learning, and research is essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Experience in a customer service environment.
• Experience hiring, training, supervising, mentoring, or directing others.
• Ability to prioritize assignments, interpret policies, and solve problems independently.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Experience with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of student employees with training, coaching, and mentoring.
• Deliver welcoming service at the circulation desk and interpret policies with care.
• Coordinate delivery, access, and circulation workflows; support billing in Alma.
• Serve as person in charge for the library, ensuring safety and security.
• Assist with data, events, and other departmental support as needed.
