Job summary

Comfort Systems USA Ohio is seeking an experienced Director of Service Operations to lead the performance of our commercial HVAC service business in Cincinnati. This role oversees the Service Manager and Service Administration Manager, ensuring safe, efficient, and customer-focused operations while driving profitability.

The Director will partner with the Service Sales Manager to align resources with demand, manage budgets and KPIs, and develop a high-performing team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Construction Management, Engineering, Mechanical Systems, or related field, or equivalent industry experience.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive leadership experience in commercial HVAC or mechanical service operations.
• Experience leading both field and office service operations.
• Strong understanding of commercial HVAC service, maintenance agreements, repair operations, scheduling, dispatch, and customer support.
• Experience managing budgets, forecasting, P&L performance, labor planning, and KPIs.
• Proven ability to lead managers, develop employees, manage performance, and build teams.
• Strong financial and operational judgment with data-driven decision making.

Responsibilities

• Lead the overall execution and performance of the commercial HVAC Service department with accountability for safe, efficient, and profitable operations.
• Provide leadership to the Service Manager and Service Administration Manager with clear expectations and accountability.
• Oversee coordination of field operations, dispatch, scheduling, customer communication, purchasing, and billing readiness.
• Manage departmental financial performance including budgets, labor utilization, backlog, and service profitability.
• Partner with Service Sales Manager to ensure service agreements, repairs, quoted work, emergency service, and warranty work are executed effectively.
• Assess staffing, workload, and capacity to align resources with demand and business needs.
• Utilize KPIs to identify trends, address challenges, and improve productivity and customer experience.
• Develop processes to strengthen scheduling, technician productivity, and billing readiness.
