Job summary

The RN Supervisor (T&RC) Educator CICU at Stony Brook Medicine leads unit education, supervises registered nurses and ancillary staff, and reports to the Nurse Manager while providing direct patient care when required.

Duties include developing orientation programs, conducting in-service trainings, teaching clinical skills, assessing learning needs, and coordinating discharge planning rounds with the health care team.

Qualifications

• Two (2) years post-licensure acute care nursing experience.
• Two (2) years of experience in the area of specialization is preferred.
• Graduation from a NLN-accredited School of Nursing; a BSN is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assumes responsibility and accountability for delivery of nursing care to assigned patients.
• Provides unit education and preceptorship; documents competencies.
• Develops and evaluates unit-specific orientation and in-service programs.
• Educates nursing staff on technical skills and equipment; ensures competency.
• Coordinates patient care with other health professionals and participates in discharge planning rounds.
