Job summary

Stony Brook Medicine seeks an experienced RN Supervisor Educator to lead nursing education and supervise staff within the unit. The role includes direct patient care as needed, reporting to the Nurse Manager, and ensuring adherence to care standards.

Requirements include NY RN license, BCLS, 2+ years acute care experience, and NLN-accredited nursing program graduation (BSN preferred). Leadership in orientation and ongoing education is essential.

Qualifications

• Two years post-licensure acute care experience required; two years in area of specialization preferred.
• Current license to practice as a registered nurse in New York State; BCLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Deliver nursing care to assigned patients with accountability.
• Serve as unit educator and preceptor; document competencies.
• Develop and evaluate unit-specific orientation for nursing staff.
• Plan in-service programs, conferences and lectures for staff development.
• Educate nursing staff on clinical skills and equipment use; ensure competency.
• Coordinate patient care delivery with other health professionals; participate in rounds.
