SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University in Brooklyn, NY is seeking a full-time Registered Nurse Supervisor 1 for the SICU. The role directs nursing services on an assigned unit, supervises RN staff, and coordinates care across departments.

The supervisor will lead education initiatives, participate in medical committees, and ensure patient care quality and safety standards are met. Strong leadership and clinical expertise are essential.

Qualifications

Valid NY RN license with current registration.
At least 3 years post-licensure acute care experience.
Bachelor’s in Nursing can substitute for 1 year; Master’s can substitute for 2 years.
55 B/C program eligibility will be considered; provide eligibility letter.

Responsibilities

Plans, directs, and supervises nursing services on an assigned unit.
Directs development and implementation of nursing care plans.
Provides individual care and acts as educator and nursing services expert.
Assesses nursing staff work methods and provides improvement feedback.
Coordinates medical and nursing care with other providers and ensures safety compliance.
Monitors nursing care quality and initiates corrective actions.
Attends committees to represent nursing needs and writes care standards.
Identifies staff training needs and develops education programs.
Develops orientation plans and participates in staffing decisions.
