Qualifications

• College degree or equivalent editorial experience
• Excellent command of the English language — grammar, vocabulary, spelling, and punctuation
• Sound editorial judgment and growth in editing
• Thorough knowledge of the Bible and evangelical Christian thought
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Strong word-processing skills for digital manuscript files
• Attentive to detail while keeping the whole book in view

Responsibilities

• Copyedit nonfiction manuscripts for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and consistency of style
• Verify Bible quotations and bibliographies; query editors when content raises questions
• Assign copyediting to freelancers and review their work in the Freelance Management System
• Proofread galley proofs, page proofs, and in-house marketing materials
• Prepare manuscript files for copyediting and deliver files for next stage
• Coordinate work plans with the Nonfiction Team Leader and meet due dates
• Answer publishing questions from staff and customers; contribute in meetings and projects
