Job summary

Southland Industries is seeking a Chiller Technician to service commercial/industrial HVAC and central plant equipment in California. The role focuses on troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, start-ups, and commissioning with a strong emphasis on safety and customer service.

You will maintain chillers (100 tons and larger), cooling towers, and related systems, while coordinating with customers and internal teams.

Qualifications

• 5 years journeyman level with technical schooling.
• Commercial/Industrial air conditioning experience required.
• Knowledge of chiller, HVAC, and central plants.
• HVAC large-tonnage field knowledge required.
• Must be available for emergency service calls on rotation.
• EPA certified.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair central plant equipment, including chillers 100 tons and larger, motors, pumps, valves, controls, cooling towers, vane axial fans, and other auxiliaries.
• Overhaul centrifugal chillers a plus.
• Familiar with rigging.
• Support the office with recommended repairs from delivery to completion.
• Availability for emergency service calls on-call through rotation.
• End-to-end testing, programming, start-ups, and commissioning.
• Manage site-wide maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of chillers and cooling towers.
• Ensure maintenance is completed within the scheduled month and allocated time.
• Maintain positive relationships with customers, vendors, and co-workers.
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting of on-site equipment.
• Attend monthly safety meetings and comply with safety policies.
• Collaborate with Service Supervisor on new/existing opportunities.

Position Summary

The Chiller Technician will support the maintenance, repair, and service of commercial and industrial HVAC and central plant equipment. This role works closely with customers and internal teams to troubleshoot issues, complete preventative maintenance, and support reliable system performance while maintaining a strong focus on safety and customer service. Southland Industries is a signatory contractor of the Local Union 250.

Position Details

• Maintain and repair central plant equipment,includingchillers100 tons and larger, motors, pumps, valves, controls, cooling towers, vane axial fans, and other auxiliary equipment.
• Overhaul of centrifugal chillers a plus.
• Familiar with all aspects of rigging.
• Support the office with recommended repairs from delivery to completion.
• Availability for emergency service calls “on-call” through normal rotation.
• Responsible for end-to-end testing, programming, start-ups, and commissioning.
• Manage site-wide maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair duties for chillers, cooling towers, and central plant equipment.
• Ensure completion of maintenance within the scheduled month andallocatedtime.
• Maintaining positive relationships with customers, vendors, and co-workers
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of all on-site equipment.
• Attend monthly safety meetings.
• Ensure compliance with company safety policies and procedures.
• Work directly with the Service Supervisor on new and existing customer opportunities or issues.

Pay

Final pay is determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data. For California this ranges from $28.00/hour - $65.00/hour plus annual incentive, benefits, and retirement program as outlined above.
