Job summary

Southland Industries is seeking a Journeyman Technician to maintain, repair, and service large commercial and industrial HVAC and central plant equipment. You will troubleshoot with customers, perform preventative maintenance, and support system reliability while prioritizing safety and service.

The role requires on-call emergency support, rigging knowledge, and EPA/SCAQMD licensing. You will work with a team, uphold safety, and drive high-quality repairs across project sites.

Qualifications

• 5 years journeyman level experience with technical schooling.
• Commercial/industrial air conditioning experience required.
• Knowledge of large commercial air cooled HVAC systems.
• HVAC large tonnage field knowledge required.
• Must be available for emergency service calls on-call.
• EPA and SCAQMD Licensed technician.
• Valid driver’s license per Southland policy.

Responsibilities

• Support maintenance, repair, and service of HVAC/central plant equipment.
• Troubleshoot issues with customers and internal teams.
• Perform preventative maintenance and testing, start-ups, and commissioning.
• Manage site-wide maintenance and repair duties from light commercial to large industrial equipment.
• Attend safety meetings and ensure compliance with safety policies.
• Collaborate with Service Supervisor on opportunities and issues.

Position Summary

The Journeyman Technician will support the maintenance, repair, and service of commercial and industrial HVAC and central plant equipment. This role works closely with customers and internal teams to troubleshoot issues, complete preventative maintenance, and support reliable system performance while maintaining a strong focus on safety and customer service.Southland Industries is a signatory contractor of the Local Union 250.

Position Details

• Maintain and repair large commercial industrial and air conditioning equipment up to 120 tons, including motors, pumps, valves, controls, cooling towers, vane axial fans, and other auxiliary equipment.
• Familiar with all aspects of rigging.
• Support the office with recommended repairs from delivery to completion.
• Availability for emergency service calls “on-call” through normal rotation.
• Responsible for end-to-end testing, programming, start-ups, and commissioning.
• Manage site-wide maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair duties from light commercial to large industrial HVAC equipment.
• Ensure completion of maintenance within the scheduled month and allocated time.
• Maintaining positive relationships with customers, vendors, and co-workers
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of all on-site equipment.
• Attend monthly safety meetings.
• Ensure compliance with company safety policies and procedures.
• Work directly with the Service Supervisor on new and existing customer opportunities or issues.

Qualifications

Pay

Final pay is determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data. For California this ranges from $28.00/hour - $65.00/hour plus annual incentive, benefits, and retirement program as outlined above.
