Job summary

Harvard University Central Administration is seeking a skilled Chiller Operator to manage the central chilled water plant and related systems. You will work under supervision of management to ensure reliable operations, perform preventive maintenance, and keep accurate logs and reports.

The role requires five years in the trade, MA licenses, EPA CFC certification, and the ability to read plans. Strong safety discipline and teamwork are essential in this on-site position.

Qualifications

• Five years' experience in the trade as a journeyman or operator.
• Massachusetts Refrigeration Technician license or MA First-Class Fireman’s License or higher.
• EPA CFC certification (universal) within 6 months of hiring.
• Valid Massachusetts driver’s license.
• Knowledge of chillers, cooling towers, pumps, water treatment systems.
• Ability to read plans, specs and operating manuals.
• Adherence to safety codes and university guidelines.
• Ability to work independently or in a team.

Responsibilities

• Operate central chilled water plant under varying load.
• Maintain readings, logs, and reports for operations and billing.
• Keep plant and boiler facilities clean and maintained.
• Perform inspections and preventive maintenance on equipment.
• Operate plant systems (HVAC) to meet requirements.
• Coordinate with other trades to ensure continuous operations.
