Job summary

Harvard University’s Central Administration seeks a skilled tradesperson to operate and maintain large-scale utility systems including chilled water, steam, and air distribution. The role requires reading plans, adhering to codes, and safe, independent work while collaborating with a team.

Ideal candidates have a journeyman background, MA driver’s license, and EPA CFC certification. The position includes on-site duties at Harvard with a structured schedule and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Five (5) years’ experience in the trade as a journeyman.
• Current Pipefitter’s license and EPA CFC Technician certification required.
• Completion of a trade or vocational school program.
• Must have a valid Massachusetts driver’s license.
• Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and operating/technical manuals.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain chilled water, steam, and compressed air generation/distribution systems and related equipment/components.
• Works with other personnel to maintain reliable utility service and efficient performance.
• Takes equipment readings critical for operations and billing.
• Completes logs, prepares reports, and enters data into computers.
• Performs inspections and preventive maintenance on various equipment.
