Job summary

UAB is seeking a Central Plant Chiller Mechanic to maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize our chilled water systems across campus. You will perform routine preventive maintenance and repairs on centrifugal chillers and related equipment, ensuring reliability and safety.

Ideal candidates hold HVAC certification with at least four years of related experience, EPA Section 608 certification, and the ability to read blueprints and operate metrology tools.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited vocational school in HVAC
• Four years of related experience
• EPA Section 608 certification (Type I/II/III)

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance on chillers and related equipment
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical components
• Overhaul centrifugal chillers and perform precision alignments
• Operate refrigerant recovery per EPA 608 regulations
