Job Summary

As a Childcare Teacher, you will provide a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for children in your care. Your primary responsibilities will include supervising children, planning and implementing age-appropriate activities, and supporting their emotional, social, and cognitive development. You will work closely with parents and guardians to ensure the well‑being and development of each child.

Responsibilities
Supervision and Safety
  • Monitor the safety and well-being of children at all times.
  • Ensure a clean, safe, and organized environment.
  • Follow health and safety regulations and protocols.
Activity Planning
  • Adapt activities to meet the individual needs and interests of children.
  • Encourage creativity and exploration through play and structured activities.
  • Develop and implement engaging activities that promote learning and development.
Child Development
  • Observe and assess the development progress of children.
  • Support emotional, social, and cognitive development through positive interactions.
  • Encourage positive behavior and conflict resolution among children.
Communication
  • Maintain open and effective communication with parents and guardians regarding their child’s progress and well‑being.
  • Collaborate with other childcare staff to ensure consistency in care and activities.
Record Keeping
  • Maintain accurate records of children’s attendance, activities, and developmental milestones.
  • Report any concerns regarding child behavior or development to the Director of Childcare Center.
Professional Development
  • Stay informed about best practices in childcare and early childhood education.
  • Attend training sessions and workshops as required.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Additional certifications or relevant coursework a plus.
Skills
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule.
Physical Demands
  • Adequate vision and manual dexterity.
  • Ability to bend, sit, stand, stoop, lift, and reach.
Conditions of Employment
  • Have access to an insured and properly maintained vehicle for work-related travel. Must have a valid state driver’s license and auto liability insurance. Must have an acceptable driving record.
  • Successful candidates will be subject to a drug screen and pre-employment criminal background check.
  • An annual review will be completed with your direct supervisor.
