Job summary

U.S. Coast Guard in Washington, DC is seeking an Educational Technician (GS-1702-5) to lead childcare activity rooms for children ages 6 weeks to 12 years.

You will mentor teachers and caregivers to deliver age-appropriate developmental care and instruction in line with CG CDS and accreditation standards. You will partner with parents, provide caregiver training, and coordinate with the CDC clerical team to ensure compliance.

Qualifications

• Four years education above high school; or a combination of post-high school education and specialized experience that meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position.
• Mandatory training is required which must be successfully completed and other training may occur as necessary for success in the position.
• Education verification: provide official college transcripts; foreign education may be used if equivalent to US education; transcripts may be unofficial for eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Lead childcare activity rooms for children ages 6 weeks to 12 years and mentor teachers and caregivers.
• Provide age-appropriate developmental childcare and instruction following CG Child Developmental Services and accreditation standards.
• Partner with parents to promote understanding of child growth and development.
• Provide job training and orientation for new caregivers.
• Develop a system and coordinate directives with CDC clerical team for compliance.
• Participate in special needs assessments and development of accommodation plans.
