Job summary

Air Force Civilian Service at Maxwell‑Gunter Child Development Center seeks an Educational Technician (Lead Child Development Program Technician) (GS-1702-05) to nurture children aged six months to five years. The role includes leading curriculum, supervising staff, and mentoring colleagues, ensuring safe, developmentally appropriate care.

The position operates within the 42d Force Support Squadron’s Child & Family Services Flight, focusing on learning through play and structured activities

Qualifications

Knowledge of childhood development, regulations, procedures and processes.
Knowledge of early childhood development theory and practices.
Knowledge of Center regulations, programs and operations.
Ability to design creative activity and special program plans.
Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
Ability to supervise and ensure safety and hygiene in the classroom.

Responsibilities

Develop creative curriculum plans spanning early math, literacy, music, art, science and motor development.
Serve as supervisor‑on‑duty when center leadership is away and mentor junior staff.
Attend to milestones and adapt programs for diverse needs while maintaining health and safety protocols.
