Job summary

Wilmington Preschool of the Arts is a licensed childcare center seeking Assistant Teachers to support Toddlers, Two's and Preschool age groups. The position requires a high school diploma or GED, background checks, and prior childcare experience; college coursework or an associate's degree is preferred.

Shift: Monday - Friday, 8:15am - 5:15pm. Compensation: $13-15 per hour, based on education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist the lead teacher in all classroom aspects.
• Implement activities that support emotional, social, cognitive, creative, and physical development.
• Take direction, accept constructive criticism, and improve as needed.
• Create and maintain a clean, safe classroom environment.
• Establish professional rapport with families to provide quality care.
• Physically capable of working around young children; lift up to 40 lbs.

To be QUALIFIED for this position, we require a high school diploma OR GED, the ability to pass all background checks, and previous experience working in a childcare center. Completion of college level coursework or an associate's degree is preferred.

MainJob Responsibilities:

• Assistthe lead teacher with all aspectsof the classroomin a manner consistent with the philosophy and goals of the center.
• Implement activitiesthatencourage each child’s growth in the areas of emotion, social, cognitive, creative,and physical development.
• Take direction, accept constructive criticism,and feedback, and make improvements and changes as necessary for the betterment of the quality of the program.
• Createandmaintainan environment that is clean and safe for all children.
• Establishing a professional level of rapport with each family toprovidequality care for the children.
• Physical ability to work around small children including sitting, standing, walking, running,and climbing stairs.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs. and fulfill all physical requirements of the role.
