Job summary

Allegheny County Children & Youth Services is seeking a County Caseworker 2 to support families from referral to case closure. You will investigate, plan, coordinate services, document progress, and ensure child safety with a collaborative team.

Responsibilities include leading Family Plans, preparing court materials, and liaising with foster caregivers and service partners. Telework may be possible after 6 months; standard hours are 8:30–4:30, M–F.

Qualifications

• Six months of experience as a County Caseworker 1; or
• Successful completion of County Social Casework Intern program; or
• A bachelor's degree with a social welfare major; or
• A bachelor's degree with 12 credits in related social sciences and one year of relevant experience; or
• Any equivalent combination including 12 credits in sociology/social welfare/psychology and related social sciences.

Responsibilities

• Investigative work: interview, visit, and record reviews to assess child safety and needs.
• Lead conferencing and develop Family Plans with teams and families.
• Prepare reports, petitions and testimonies for hearings and legal proceedings.
• Maintain accurate case records in required systems per regulations.
• Coordinate services, monitor progress, and provide crisis intervention.
• Oversee children in placement and maintain contact with families and partners.
