Job summary

Allegheny County Children's & Youth Services is seeking a County Caseworker 2 to support families from referral through case closure, focusing on safety, planning, and coordination in a people-centered environment.

You will conduct investigations, lead Family Plan development, prepare court materials, document actions, and coordinate services while supervising children in placement and maintaining contact with foster caregivers.

Qualifications

• Six months of County Caseworker 1 experience, intern program, or related degree.
• Bachelor's degree in social welfare or related field.
• Bachelor's degree with 12 credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice or related social sciences.
• Equivalent combination of experience and training including 12 credits in social sciences.
• Applicants will be considered to have met educational requirements within two months of graduating.

Responsibilities

• Investigate safety and determine service needs through interviews, visits, and record reviews.
• Lead conferencing and guide teams in building Family Plans.
• Prepare reports, petitions, and testimony materials for hearings and legal proceedings.
• Maintain accurate case records in required systems.
• Coordinate services, monitor family progress, and provide crisis intervention as needed.
• Oversee children in placement and maintain contact with families and caregivers.
