Job summary

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is hiring a County Caseworker 1 in Northumberland County to support children and families within the Department of Human Services. You will conduct safety assessments, engage with families, and coordinate with partner agencies to implement service plans.

The role involves on-site work with a standard 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM schedule, no telework option, and required background checks. PA residency and driver’s license considerations apply.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience as County Social Services Aide 3 and 12 college credits in sociology/social sciences.
• Bachelor's degree with 12 college credits in sociology/social sciences.
• Equivalent combination: 12 college credits in sociology/social sciences and one year of paraprofessional case management experience.
• Applicants may be considered to meet education within two months of graduating.

Responsibilities

• Provide regular contact with children, parents, and foster parents to address problems that led to agency involvement.
• Schedule and conduct interviews, home visits, and meetings to assess safety and progress toward goals.
• Prepare forms, maintain up-to-date case records, and complete written materials required by agency policies.
• Respond to and investigate reports outside normal hours when on-call duties are assigned.
• Coordinate with social service agencies, hospitals, mental health facilities, police, courts, schools, and community groups to meet service plan goals.

Education
