Job summary

Northumberland County Children & Youth is seeking a County Caseworker 2 to provide essential social services to children, youth, and families, promoting safety, stability, and well‑being. You will work with a team and community partners to develop effective service plans and ensure timely support.

The role involves casework services, family contacts, and conducting interviews and home visits to assess needs. Proficiency with the CAPS system and ability to respond after hours are required.

Qualifications

• Six months of experience as a County Caseworker 1 or equivalent.
• Bachelor's degree with a social welfare major or related coursework and one year of social casework experience.
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training including 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology or related social sciences.

Responsibilities

• Provide guidance to children and families to support safety, permanence, and well-being.
• Maintain frequent contact with children, parents, and foster parents to address concerns and support progress.
• Conduct interviews, home visits, and meetings to assess safety and understand family needs.
• Prepare forms, maintain case records, and complete correspondence according to agency standards.
• Use the CAPS system to enter and review information accurately.
• Respond to emergency calls after hours and investigate reports when assigned.
