Description

Child Welfare Case Managers participate in ongoing training to maintain certification, collaborate with team members and community providers, and focus on permanency, safety, and satisfaction for children and families. Responsibilities include completing case notes, court preparation, assessments, referrals, placements, home studies, and facilitating family contacts.

Position Responsibilities
  1. Participate in staff development and maintain child welfare certification through ongoing training.
  2. Collaborate with team members and support case management efforts.
  3. Maintain relationships with supervisory staff, community resource providers, children, and families, focusing on permanency and safety.
  4. Accurately complete case notes and enter data according to policies.
  5. Attend court activities, testify, and make recommendations.
  6. Develop and complete reports such as judicial reviews, assessments, and summaries.
  7. Participate in case staffing and conduct safety assessments.
  8. Make referrals and arrange emergency services as needed.
  9. Search for parents and family members thoroughly and document efforts.
  10. Complete home studies for placements and facilitate family visits.
  11. Conduct regular face-to-face contacts with children and families.
  12. Review family progress and support foster/adoptive families.
  13. Negotiate subsidy agreements and complete adoption paperwork.
Qualifications

Education, Experience, and Skills: Bachelor's degree in Social Work or related field, with at least one year of relevant experience. Must obtain Child Welfare Certification, possess a valid driver’s license, background clearance, and computer skills including Microsoft Office. Ability to evaluate risk factors for child abuse and neglect is essential.
