Job summary

The YMCA of San Diego County is seeking a Child Watch Attendant to supervise children, plan activities, and support program management at the Mission Valley YMCA.

Responsibilities include coordinating age-appropriate events, ensuring safety, modeling YMCA values, and communicating with families. The role requires 18+ an friendly, customer-service oriented approach, with CPR/AED and First Aid certification within 30 days of hire.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Experience working with infants and children is a plus.
• Sincere interest in working with children.
• Warm, friendly personality and ability to relate to a diverse population.
• Excellent customer service experience and organization skills.
• CPR/AED and First Aid Certification obtained within 30 days of hire from recognized organizations.

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate age-appropriate activities and events for participants.
• Supervise participants, ensuring their guidance and safety.
• Interact with participants in a positive manner while being fair and respectful.
• Follow emergency procedures to ensure safety of participants and staff.
• Communicate effectively with participants, parents, members, and co-workers.
• Follow YMCA policies and procedures; inform staff of safety concerns.
• General housekeeping duties including cleaning bathrooms, tables, floors, and trash.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings and assist other departments as needed.
• Wear YMCA staff shirt and name tag during working hours.
• Lead sports, games, and curriculum activities; monitor behavior and housekeeping.
