Job summary

YMCA of San Diego County seeks a Child Watch Attendant to supervise children, assist with program planning, and support overall Child Watch operations at Border View Family YMCA in San Diego. Shifts include weekdays mornings and evenings, plus Saturday sessions.

The role emphasizes safety, positive interactions, and adherence to YMCA policies and core values. Ideal candidates are 18+, with a genuine interest in children, strong customer service and organization skills, and CPR/First Aid

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Experience working with infants and children is a plus.
• Sincere interest in working with children and a warm, friendly demeanor.
• Excellent customer service experience and strong organization skills.
• Fingerprinted (background check) in accordance with licensing and YMCA policy; valid CPR/First Aid certification from a recognized organization.

Responsibilities

• Supervise children and assist with age-appropriate activities and events.
• Plan, coordinate and implement daily schedule and curriculum.
• Ensure safety and guidance; follow emergency procedures when needed.
• Communicate effectively with participants, parents, members and staff.
• Maintain cleanliness and general housekeeping tasks; wear YMCA shirt and name tag during hours.
• Participate in staff meetings and trainings; support other departments as needed.
