Job summary

Ann Arbor YMCA is seeking a Part-time Child Watch Lead to supervise daily operations of the Child Watch program for ages 4 months to 12 years. You will work with the Child Care Director to create engaging activities and ensure safety and well-being.

Responsibilities include supervising staff, training new team members, managing check-in/check-out, and maintaining a clean, welcoming space. This role requires energy, strong communication, and a heart for community.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or Equivalent; some college preferred.
• At least one year experience working with children.
• Certification in infant, child and adult CPR and First Aid or obtain within 30 days.
• Ability to work in a team, flexibility, and engage in creative programming.
• Ability to lift up to 20 pounds and stand for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Provide program supervision using positive guidance techniques.
• Trains new Child Watch staff
• Ensures Child Watch staff follow departmental policies and procedures.
• Oversees the check in/check out procedures.
• First line in handling customer service issues.
• Ensures proper conduct of all patrons in Child Watch.
• Develop and implement program activities for youth 4 months to 12 years.
• Maintain program and classroom space with a clean, sanitary environment.
• Maintain appropriate adult/child ratio based on ages.
• Participate in staff meetings and trainings.
• Plan activities developmentally appropriate for youth.
• Communicate expectations to youth and staff.
• Provide opportunities for social, academic, and personal growth.
• Assist in maintaining participant records.
• Become familiar with children and families to provide quality service.
• Attend and assist in scheduled staff meetings and trainings.
• Perform all other duties as assigned by the Child Care Director.
