Job summary

South Carolina Department of Social Services is seeking a detailed Interstate Child Support Coordinator to review and act on referrals from DSS offices, clerks of court, and the public. You will cross reference petitions in PACSS, manage cases within federal time frames, and ensure proper distribution of collected support.

The role requires a High School Diploma with 3 years of related experience, or an Associate Degree with 1 year, or a Bachelor’s degree that may substitute for experience.

Responsibilities

• Reviewing and determining action on incoming child support referrals from county DSS offices, clerks of court, and the public.
• Cross references interstate petitions with the PACSS system to avoid duplicate cases.
• Manage caseload to meet federally mandated time frames and maintain case records.
• Process interstate transmittals and correspondence from other states, tribal actions and countries.
• Review interstate transmittals for UIFSA requirements.
• Provide updates to appropriate offices to ensure proper child support collection and distribution.
• Correspond with other states requesting petition status within 5 days; respond to phone inquiries within 2 business days.
• Represent the agency with a focus on customer service.
• Protect personal identifying information (PII) and safeguard systems and data.

Job Duties:

• The CSS Interstate Child Support Coordinator is responsible for reviewing and determining action to take on incoming child support referrals from county Department of Social Services offices, clerks of court, and general public. Use considerable judgment in determining proper action required, accuracy and conformity with federal regulations so that each case is brought to proper conclusion.
• Cross references interstate petitions with the PACSS system to ensure no duplication of cases on the system. Enters all interstate transmittals on-line entry to the PACSS system.
• Manages caseload to ensure appropriate actions are taken in accordance with federally mandated time frames. Maintain case record in accordance with FR 45 CFR 303.10.
• Processes incoming interstate transmittals and correspondence submitted by other states, tribal actions and countries.
• Reviews interstate transmittals for required documents per Uniform Interstate Family Support Act (UIFSA).
• Provides updates and assists processing information to appropriate offices with Child Support Services Division and the county Clerk of Court offices to ensure proper child support collection and the distribution thereof.
• Corresponds with other states requesting status of petitions within 5 days by mail. Ensures all phone inquires are returned within 2 business days.
• Represents the agency in a positive manner by placing customer service as in integral job priority through the completion of job duties and/or service.
• Ensures that personal identifying information (PII) is properly used. accessed, gathered, shared and disposed. To protect the agency networks and applications by safeguarding systems, equipment and data.

A Bachelor's Degree or higher may be substituted for required work experience.
