Job summary

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is seeking a County Caseworker 1 in Lebanon County to help keep children safe and families supported. You will perform social and case management services, conduct investigations, provide counseling, coordinate with community resources, and collaborate with other agencies to strengthen families.

Primary duties include in-home services, placement coordination when needed, and careful documentation.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 and two years of college coursework including 12 credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or
• A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by successful completion of 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 or in a similar position performing paraprofessional case management functions.
• Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.

Responsibilities

• Case Investigation: Conduct investigations into reports of child abuse and neglect
• Family Support: Provide in-home services that strengthen family functioning and safety
• Placement Coordination: Arrange and monitor placement services when children cannot remain safely in their homes
• Client Counseling: Offer guidance and counseling to children and family members to encourage positive decision making
• Information Gathering: Collect essential case information and maintain accurate documentation
• Agency Collaboration: Work with agencies and service providers throughout the social services network
