Job summary

University of Northern Iowa’s Child Development Center seeks two qualified professionals, Assistant Child Development Specialist or Child Development Specialist, to implement developmentally appropriate curricula across varied classrooms. The role rotates between classrooms and includes direct supervision of student assistants and collaboration with faculty.

Responsibilities include communicating with families, conducting parent-teacher conferences each semester, and ensuring inclusive practices

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and current CPR/First Aid/Mandatory Reporter/Universal Precautions or ability to acquire within 90 days of hire.
• Occasional work outside normal hours required.
• Preferred: childcare experience; student experience considered.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum for diverse groups of children; adapt activities to varying ages and abilities.
• Engage with families daily and conduct parent–teacher conferences each semester; supervise and train college student assistants.
