Northeast Iowa Community College is seeking an Assistant to the Co-Director and Lead Teacher at the Child Development Center. You will support planning, environment setup, and child development activities under the Lead Teacher's direction.

Qualifications

• Educational background in Early Childhood preferred and must meet DHS licensing requirements.
• Experience in Early Childhood program preferred.
• Strong desire to work with children.
• Warm, nurturing, friendly personality.
• Relates well to children and supports positive family-Center relationships.
• Mature attitude enabling effective communication, problem solving and teamwork.
• Completion of mandatory reporting training, current First Aid/CPR certification, and OSHA - Universal Precautions training.
• Current physical exam including communicable disease tests as defined by DHS.
• Physical vitality and stamina.
• Conditional employment until successful DHS & criminal records/child abuse registry clearance.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and implementing the daily program under the direction of the Lead Teacher.
• Assist in planning and preparing the learning environment, setting up centers, and preparing materials.
• Assist in promoting and supervising healthy development of each child.
• Assist in teaching and supervising activities to ensure safety and nutrition.
• Assist in daily maintenance tasks (laundry, floor care, supplies, toys).
• Be primary caregiver for assigned children; relay information to parents and chart daily activities.
