Job summary

Northeast Iowa Community College's Child Development Center seeks an Assistant to the Co-Director and Lead Teacher to support daily classroom activities and center operations. You will assist with planning, preparing materials, and promoting the healthy development of each child within a safe, nurturing environment.

Ideal candidates have an Early Childhood background, a warm, team-oriented attitude, and a commitment to licensing standards and center policies.

Qualifications

• Educational background in Early Childhood is preferred (must meet licensing).
• Experience in Early Childhood program preferred, especially in area served.
• Must have strong desire to work with children and a warm, nurturing personality.
• Relates well to children and supports positive family-Center relationships.
• Completion of mandatory reporting training, First Aid/CPR certification, OSHA-Universal Precautions training.
• Current physical exam including communicable disease tests as defined by licensing.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and implementing the daily program under the Lead Teacher.
• Assist in preparing the learning environment and materials.
• Promote healthy physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of each child.
• Assist in teaching and supervising activities to ensure child involvement and safety.
• Attend to daily maintenance tasks and ensure equipment and materials are organized.
• Maintain confidentiality and coordinate with Lead Teacher on center operations.
