Job summary

The Salvation Army USA Central Territory Oakbrook Terrace Corps is seeking a Child Care Worker to oversee childcare for infants through elementary-aged children. The role focuses on creating safe, age-appropriate activities in the Corps nursery and gym, with emphasis on engagement and developmental planning.

Responsibilities include coordinating programs, participating in CPR/First Aid training, communicating with parents, and training helpers while supporting the mission of The Salvation Army.

Qualifications

• Must have completed the 9th grade.
• Must be at least 15 years of age.
• Previous experience working with children preferred.
• Fluency (written and verbal) in Spanish is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the care of children in the Corps nursery or gym during various activities.
• Assist to plan age-appropriate programs for toddlers, pre-school, and elementary aged children.
• Recommend to the Corps Officer appropriate games, toys, books, and resources that will enable a wholesome experience for children.
• Attend training that will ensure the proper care and safety of children, i.e., CPR, First Aid, Safe from Harm.
• Maintain adequate supply of resource materials to administer the program.
• Promote participation of parents and other trained helpers.
• Facilitate training, as necessary, for helpers in the childcare program.
• All other duties as assigned.
