Job summary

The Salvation Army in Oakbrook Terrace, IL is seeking a Child Care Worker to support nursery and gym activities for infants through elementary children. You will help plan age-appropriate programs and ensure safe, wholesome experiences for kids under supervision.

Qualified applicants will have at least a ninth-grade education and be 15 or older; Spanish fluency is a plus. Training in CPR/First Aid is required, and a mission-driven, collaborative attitude is essential.

Qualifications

• Must have completed the 9th grade.
• Must be at least 15 years of age.
• Previous experience working with children preferred.
• Fluency in Spanish is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the care of children in the Corps nursery or gym during various activities.
• Assist to plan age-appropriate programs for toddlers, pre-school, and elementary aged children.
• Recommend to the Corps Officer appropriate games, toys, books, and resources that will enable a wholesome experience for children.
• Attend training that will ensure the proper care and safety of children, i.e., CPR, First Aid, Safe from Harm.
• Maintain adequate supply of resource materials to administer the program.
• Promote participation of parents and other trained helpers.
• Facilitate training, as necessary, for helpers in the childcare program.
• All other duties as assigned.
