Job summary

The Greater Philadelphia YMCA is seeking an experienced child care educator for the 2026-2027 school year with a pay range of $17.50-$18.50 per hour. This role focuses on nurturing children, connecting with the community, and providing a fun learning atmosphere within a nonprofit setting.

You will plan curriculum, observe child development, maintain records, supervise staff, and engage with parents while meeting all required trainings and clearances.

Qualifications

• Degree from an accredited college or university in education or human services related field.
• 2+ years verified child care experience (2500 hours).
• Passionate about working with children in a fun, diverse environment.
• Ability to pass all relevant clearances and keep trainings up to date.

Responsibilities

• Find new and engaging ways to help kids learn while maintaining environments that build children’s self-esteem.
• Implement and plan curriculum for program with child-centered, developmentally appropriate learning experiences.
• Conduct weekly child observations and track related developments requiring early intervention with parents/guardians.
• Communicate effectively and timely with parents/guardians while maintaining confidentiality and sensitivity.
• Maintain daily attendance records, emergency contact binders, allergy reports, and related paperwork within timesheets and reports.
• Keep centers stocked with quality learning materials organized in labeled containers for each learning center.
• Attend team-planning meetings monthly or more as needed.
• Campaign for the Annual Campaign and develop donors and volunteers.
• Supervise all staff on site.
