Job summary

HHSC in Texas is seeking a Child Care Licensing Inspector to join Region 3 CCL DC Field Ops. This role performs inspections, investigates complaints, reviews applications, and enforces minimum standards to protect children in regulated facilities.

Travel up to 75% is required; telework may be available. The position offers a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities for advancement within HHSC.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university or equivalent experience.
• Experience in regulatory services including inspections and investigations preferred.
• Experience performing inspections or investigations under minimal supervision.
• Experience in leading, mentoring, or supervising a team.
• Experience testifying at administrative hearings or before courts of jurisdiction.
• Verification of degree(s)/license(s) may be required.

Responsibilities

• Perform facility inspections and investigations of child-care facilities.
• Provide training to child-care providers and conduct pre-application meetings.
• Evaluate applications for child-care facilities and issue permits.
• Monitor compliance, cite deficiencies, and coordinate enforcement actions.
• Travel up to 75% and flexible hours as needed.
