Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) seeks a Child Care Licensing Inspector III‑V to regulate and inspect Texas child‑care facilities. The role involves supervising inspections, conducting investigations, reviewing applications for permits, and providing professional training to providers to ensure health, safety, and well‑being of children.

Position may fill as Inspector IV or V based on experience. Regular travel up to 75% is required, with telework possible in some cases.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a four-year college or university or equivalent experience.
• Experience in regulatory inspections and investigations preferred.
• Ability to travel up to 75%.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Knowledge of Texas laws and regulation.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and inspect licensed child‑care facilities and ensure compliance.
• Investigate complaints and allegations of minimum standards violations.
• Evaluate new applications for child‑care facilities and issue permits.
• Provide training to child‑care providers.
• Respond to emergency complaints in high‑risk situations.
• Complete regulatory tasks with timely documentation.
